The Moffat Tunnel has brought water from the West Slope’s Fraser and Colorado Rivers to Denver for nearly 80 years–and has dramatically reduced the amount of water in the Fraser and Colorado River systems for fish and wildlife.  Some streams that feed the Fraser, like Jim Creek (pictured right), have even dried up completely.

More than half of the Fraser’s water is currently diverted to the Front Range. The Moffat Firming Project seeks to divert even more–over 5.5 billion gallons more–leaving very little for fish, wildlife, and communities like Winter Park, Fraser, and Tabernash  that depend on the Fraser every day.
